About Qumra

A space for new voices in cinema. 27 March - 8 April 2026.

Qumra is a unique initiative dedicated to providing mentorship, nurturing talent, and fostering hands-on development for filmmakers from Qatar, the region and beyond.

Organised by the Doha Film Institute, Qumra empowers authentic voices in cinema through a curated programme of development labs, Master Classes and industry sessions. Through one-on-one guidance from acclaimed mentors and access to decision-makers from across the world, Qumra supports first- and second-time filmmakers in shaping original, resonant stories.

In light of recent developments in the region, Qumra 2026 will take place online from 27 March – 8 April to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community.

The programme will bring together selected projects and international industry experts through mentorship sessions, the Series Pitch, and one-on-one meetings.

Together, we continue to nurture new voices in cinema and support the creative journeys of filmmakers from our region and beyond.

“Hundreds of projects nurtured at Qumra have gone on to make a genuinely lasting impact, with many receiving global recognition at prestigious festivals. These achievements reflect the strength of the creative community we have cultivated—one built on trust, support, and the unwavering belief in the power of storytelling”.
